New 60-Day Provisional Accreditation
For Reaccreditation

from the May 2003 issue

To more readily accommodate laboratories in the reaccreditation stage, the Board Of Directors recently instituted a 60-day provisional accreditation. During this time, a laboratory that has been delayed reaccreditation will receive extended presence on the ICAVL website as an accredited laboratory and be allowed to continue use of the ICAVL Accredited Laboratory logo while resolving their delay issues, providing the required correction documentation to the ICAVL and awaiting a final accreditation decision. This new 60-day provisional timeframe is intended to allow laboratories to resolve delay issues and re-achieve their accreditation status while minimizing the inconvenience of needing to redesign reports and letterhead acknowledging their accreditation status and concerns about meeting reimbursement guidelines. However, laboratories must still submit their reaccreditation applications for the recommended application deadlines.
