The
Society for Vascular Ultrasound (SVU) Certificate of
Appreciation is bestowed upon individuals or groups
in recognition of creative endeavor of outstanding achievement
in promoting noninvasive vascular technology. The SVU presented
the award to Sandra L. Katanick, FSVU, CAE, ICAVL
Executive Director, in recognition of her pioneering efforts
in developing an accreditation process that defines the
standard requirements for vascular laboratories to provide
high quality care to consumers. The ICAVL now has approximately
1,100 accredited vascular labs throughout the United States
and Canada. Ms. Katanick and the ICAVL have also supported
the Coalition for Quality in Ultrasound (CQU) on its efforts
to foster payment policies that support payment only for
quality vascular testing through laboratory accreditation
and/or a technologist/sonographer credentialing requirement.
