The ICAVL Welcomes New Board Member

Carol
Benson, MD joins the ICAVL Board as a representative of
the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound. Dr. Benson serves
as Director of the Division of Ultrasound, and Co-Director of
High Risk Obstetrical Ultrasound, for the Department of Radiology,
and Radiology's Director of the Vascular Lab, at Brigham and
Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. She is also the Professor
of Radiology at Harvard University Medical School. Upon earning
her MD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine
in 1980, Dr. Benson completed her internship at Abington Memorial
Hospital, Abington, PA, and her residency at New York Hospital-Cornell
University Medical Center, New York, NY. Dr. Benson has served
on numerous committees, and has lectured extensively on the
regional, national and international levels since 1984. Dr.
Benson has been actively involved in several national societies
devoted to the advancement of ultrasound education, research,
and clinical practice. She is a Fellow and the Past-President
of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, a Fellow of the
American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and has served
on the board of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
Sonographers. Throughout her career, Dr. Benson has been published
extensively in reports, reviews, books, journals, and abstracts,
and serves on several editorial boards including the Journal
of Ultrasound in Medicine, the Ultrasound International
Journal, and the American Journal of Roentgenology.
