Sandra Katanick Recognized
For 10 Years As
ICAVL Executive Director

from the Spring 2001 issue

On February 18, 2001, Sandra Katanick celebrated her ten year anniversary as Executive Director of the ICAVL. This date is also the ten year anniversary of the opening of the ICAVL office. Prior to her appointment as Executive Director in 1991, Ms. Katanick served as a founding Board member to the ICAVL, the first of the Intersocietal organizations, representing the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. During the ten years that she has held the position of Executive Director, Ms. Katanick has been responsible for the formation of the three additional accrediting bodies that now join the ICAVL under the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories, incorporated in December of 1996; the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories, incorporated in December of 1997, and the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Magnetic Resonance Laboratories, incorporated in February of 2000.

In celebration of this distinctive accomplishment, the IAC staff honored Ms. Katanick (top row, center, in the photograph above) with a luncheon and the presentation of a plaque recognizing her distinguished accomplishments and contributions.
